NOTE:
- A 5-character code must always be displayed during Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- identification.
- Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- must be recorded if vehicle code is not displayed or ECM has been replaced.

- Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551/1552 with cable VAG 1551/3
Work sequence
- Connect Scan Tool V.A.G 1551/1552.
- Start engine and let idle
- Press -0- and -1- to select Address word 01: "Engine electronics"

- Press buttons -0- and -7- for "Code Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248-" and confirm with -Q- button.

- Enter appropriate code number and confirm with -Q- button.

Coding 00001 WSC XXXXX
- Press -> button.
- Press buttons -0- and -6- for the "End output" function and confirm input with the -Q- button.
- Switch ignition off and on again.
NOTE: The code entered will be activated by switching the ignition off and on again. If after entering code the ignition is not switched off and on again, the DTC "Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- incorrectly coded" in DTC memory cannot be erased.
- Check DTC memory, if necessary, repair any DTCs and erase DTC memory, Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Display readiness code. If DTC memory has been erased or Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- was disconnected, readiness code must be reset.
