VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), connecting


Note: All functions which could previously be performed with V.A.G 1551/1552 can also be performed with the new tester VAS 5051 in the operating mode vehicle On Board Diagnostic.

Special tools and equipment





- V.A.G 1551 scan tool

NOTE: The or 1552 scan tool can be used instead of the V.A.G 1551 scan tool, however a print-out is not possible.






- VAG 1551/3 Cable

Work sequence





- Connect V.A.G1551 Scan Tool (ST) (or VAG1552) with VAG1551/3 adapter cable.

After the scan tool has been connected:
- Depending upon desired function:
Switch ignition on or
Start engine. Selectable Functions When Using VAG1551/1552 or VAS5051


NOTE:
- If the display remains blank, check voltage supply for diagnostic connection according to fault finding programme
- If the display does not indicate as described in the work sequence:
See scan tool operating instructions
- If due to an input fault "Fault in the data transfer" is displayed, pull wire off scan tool, reconnect and repeat work step.

1. Rapid data transfer*
2. Flash code output*

* Appears alternately

- Operate scan tool taking into account the information on the display:
- Press key 1 for "Rapid data transfer".
- Press keys 0 and 1 for address word "Engine electronics" and confirm entry with Q key.

Control module identification and coding is indicated on display (example):

06A906032BQ 2.0l R4/2V G *3657 ->
Coding 00003 WSC 00000

- 06A 906 032 BQ - Part No. of the control module (for latest control module version see parts catalogue)
- 2.0 ltr. - Engine displacement
- R4/2V - Engine configuration (4-Cyl. in-line engine, 2-valve)
- G = Cruise control system enabled activated
- *3657 = Program level number
- Coding xxxxx = Transmission allocation e.g. 00001 for manual transmission or 00003 for automatic transmission (only additional information)
- WSC xxxxx = Workshop code from V.A.G 1551, of the workshop who performed the last coding. (If the factory coding has not been changed, WSC 00000 appears)

NOTE: If the control module version corresponding to the vehicle is not displayed, replace control module.

- Press -> key.
