Airbag System

For VAS 5051 information, see VAS 5051 Tester.

- Connect VAG 1551 scan tool.Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
- Switch ignition on.

Insert address word XX


NOTE: With the address word 00 the automatic test sequence is carried out, i.e. the DTC memories of all systems in the vehicles capable of On Board Diagnostic are checked via the rapid data transfer.


- Press buttons -1- and -5- to insert "Airbag" address word 15.

- If one of the malfunction types appear in the display, the possible causes of the malfunction can be printed out by pressing the "HELP" button.

Control module does not answer


- The ignition must be switched on.

K wire not switching to B+


- Malfunctions have occurred at the start of or during the program (external interference?).


Rapid data transfer ->
No signal from control module


- Check wiring connections for Data Link Connector (DLC), as well as voltage supply and Ground (GND) connections.

Error in communication link


- After repairing possible causes of malfunction, once again press buttons -1- and -5- to insert "Airbag" address word 15.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
