To perform this update process, a new VAS 5051 Basis CD (3.10) has been developed that will lead you through the necessary steps to update your VAS 5051 Diagnostic Tester(s).

Note:
When the update is performed, all information including Brand information as well as VESIS information (if installed) will be erased from the tester. The Brand CD and VESIS CD (if installed) must be reinstalled.

- Locate latest updates for Brand CD and VESIS CD (if necessary) for installation after the tester has been updated.

Basis CD 3.10, installing Update

Using the following steps and the Basis CD ALL Dealers must update their VAS 5051 Diagnostic Testers with the correct Importer Number, Dealership Number, Date and Time as follows:

With VAS 5051 plugged into 11 0V, switched ON, and Initial Start Screen shown on tester:

- Insert Basis CD 3.10 into CD holder on right side of VAS 5051 Tester.





- Select "Administration" Button (arrow).





- Screen appears as shown.

^ Your equipment number appears at XXXXX (unique for all 5051 Testers)

^ Importer Number currently on Tester appears at XXX (to be changed)

^ Dealership Number currently on Tester appears at XXXXX (to be changed)

- Select "Install update" (arrow).





- "Install base CD" confirmation screen appears as shown.

- Select "OK".

^ Once files are updated, message will read "Switch the power off and on to start the new system"

- Remove CD and switch power OFF for approx. 10 seconds then, switch power ON again to restart tester.

VAS 5051, changing Importer and Dealership Numbers





- With update installed, screen appears as shown.

Note:
Only the "Administration" button appears on the right side of screen.

You must now enter correct Importer code, Dealership code and Date/Time into the tester.

- Select "Administration" button again (arrow).





- Screen appears as shown.

Note:
Importer Number, Dealership Number and Name are now erased at upper right of screen.

- Select "Enter workshop code" (arrow).





- Screen appears as shown.

- Input Importer Number (444 for US Dealers or 999 for Canadian Dealers) on keypad.

- Select "Q" button to confirm.





- Screen appears as shown.

^ Importer Number appears at black arrow (shown as XXX here, your screen will show Importer Number input from previous step).

^ "Enter Dealership Number" appears in upper left corner (white arrow).

To determine your Dealership Number:





- Use the last 5 digits of your current Dealership Number (see examples).

- Input your 5 digit Dealership Number on keypad, then select "Q" button to confirm.





- Screen appears as shown.

^ Dealership Number entered appears (arrow).

^ "Confirmation of Input" Pop-up appears

Note:
Once "OK' is selected, It will no longer be possible to change the Importer Number and Dealership Number!

Make sure Importer Number and Dealership Number are correct before selecting OK on the "Confirmation of input" screen!

With Importer and Dealership Numbers corrected:





- Select OK on the "Confirmation of Input" screen.





- Screen appears as shown.

^ Dealership Number entered appears at black arrow (shown as XXXXX here, your screen will show your Dealership Number).

VAS 5051, changing Dealership Identifier (name)

- Enter your Dealership name here using the keypad.

Note:
For upper case and special characters, select the "SH" Button first To select lowercase characters again, select the "SH" Button again. For empty spaces, select the "Space Button" to the left of the "Q" button.

^ Dealership name appears (as you select characters) at white arrow.

Once complete Dealership name has been typed in:

- Select "Q" button twice to confirm input of Dealership name.





Administration screen appears as shown.

^ Dealership name (as entered) appears at black arrow (shown as Volkswagen of America, Inc. here, your screen will show your Dealership name).

- Select "Date/Time" (white arrow).





- Screen appears as shown.

In all cases (even if Date/time are correct):

- Select either the (up Arrow) or (Down arrow) buttons.





"Date adjustment CAUTION!" Screen appears as shown.

^ Caution screen indicates date can only be changed once.

- Select "Change" (black arrow).





- Screen appears as shown.

- Change to correct date by selecting (Up Arrow) or (Down Arrow) buttons ("Month" will change after last day of current month has been reached).

- Change to correct time by selecting "Hour" or "Minute" button then, select (Up Arrow) or (Down arrow) button.

Note:
Time must be input in the 24 hour method (from 1:00 PM until Midnight, add 12 hours to the time).

- Once date and time are correct, select "Store" button (arrow) to accept change.

^ Date is now permanently changed

Note:
The Time, (hours and minutes) can be changed at any time.





- Screen appears as shown.

^ Date and time have been changed.

- Select "Go to" then "Exit" to return to the Main menu.





- Screen appears as shown.

Tester is ready to accept 7 digit Immobilizer PIN.

- You MUST now install the latest Brand CD using instructions included with that CD.

With the Brand CD installed and if VESIS was installed:

- You MUST now reinstall the latest VESIS CD using instructions included with that CD.
