Readiness code, Setting

Special tools
- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool using VAG 1551/3 adaptor cable


NOTE:
- Do NOT switch engine OFF during test sequence.
- If test sequence is interrupted or not adhered to, Readiness code will not be set.
- For this procedure, raise engine speed with vehicle stationary. Apply hand brake and place Manual transmission in neutral or automatic Transmission Range selector lever in "N".


Setting conditions
- No DTCs stored in DTC memory. Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Engine Coolant Temperature 10 °C minimum

Work sequence

Work step: 1
- Start engine and let idle for 35 seconds minimum.

Work step: 2
- Test drive vehicle and maintain 2000 rpm in 3rd gear for 5 seconds, minimum.

Work step: 3
- Accelerate from an engine speed of 2200 rpm (tachometer) to Wide Open Throttle (WOT) in 2nd or 3rd gear for 8 seconds.

Work step: 4
- Switch OFF the engine and wait at least 10 seconds
- Repeat work steps 1, 2 and 3.
- Read out Readiness code. Readiness Code Reading

If Readiness code still not OK
- Check for malfunction in DTC memory and eliminate if necessary. Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Check DTC memory again and then repeat work steps again.
