Tightening Specifications




Tightening Torque and Sequence Information

Cylinder Head Tightening Torque and Sequence





- Tighten cylinder head in following four stage sequence:
1. Tighten initially using torque wrench:
Stage I = 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
Stage II = 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
2. Turn further with a normal wrench:
Stage III = 1/4 turn (90°)
Stage IV = 1/4 turn (90°)

NOTE: Loosen cylinder head bolts in reverse of tightening sequence shown above.

Crankshaft Main Bearing Caps

Note: To measure radial clearance:
Tighten 65 Nm (48 ft lb) but NOT additional 90°

Final Assembly
Step 1 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
Step 2 plus additional 1/4 turn (90°)
Connecting Rod Bolt
Step 1 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Step 2 plus additional 1/4 turn (90°)
Flex Plate, Tighten bolts as follows;
Step 1 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Step 2 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
Step 3 and turn an additional 90° (1/4 turn) further

Crankshaft Toothed Belt Sprocket Bolt 120 Nm (88 ft. lbs.) plus additional 1/4 turn (90°)
Camshaft Sprocket Mounting Bolt 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
Oil Pump/Oil Pick-up Mounting Bolts 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
Oil Pump Drive Sprocket Bolt 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Oil Pump Drive Chain Tensioner Mounting 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
Intake Manifold Bolt 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Bolts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Water pump bolts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
