Crankshaft oil seal -vibration damper end-, replacing
Special tools and equipment





^ VW681 Extractor lever
^ T10069 Counter-holder
^ T10124 Fitting sleeve
^ VAG 1332 Torque wrench (40...200 Nm)
^ VAG 1601 Torque wrench (150...800 Nm)

Removing
^ Remove ribbed belt.
^ Remove toothed belt.





^ Pry out seal using extractor lever VW 681.

Note: Ensure the sealing surface is not damaged when prying out the seal.

Installing
^ Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.





^ Place guide sleeve T10124/1 onto crankshaft journal.
^ Slide dry seal -1- over guide sleeve.
^ Press oil seal -1- in onto stop with press sleeve from T101 24/2. To do this use an old vibration damper securing bolt -2-.
^ Install toothed belt.
^ Install ribbed belt.
