Fuel Gauge Sender: Service and Repair



Sender For Fuel Gauge, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Wrench for fuel tank sender 3087







- Torque wrench (40...200 Nm) V.A.G1332

Removing


NOTE:
- The fuel tank must not be more than 1/3 full.
- Empty fuel tank using fuel suction unit VAS5190 if necessary.
- Observe safety measures before performing repair work.
- Turn ignition and all electrical consumers off and remove ignition key.
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery ground strap.
- Remove flange, Fuel delivery unit, removing and installing.
- Pull off Sender for fuel gauge -G- connector on underside of flange.







- Unclip sender for fuel gauge at baffle housing in fuel tank and remove.
- Press locking tab on sender for fuel gauge in - direction of arrow - and pull upward (illustration shows uninstalled sender for fuel gauge ).

Installing
- Insert fuel gauge sender in guide on baffle housing and press down until it engages.
- Reconnect fuel gauge sender connector to flange.
- Install flange and remaining assemblies 2, Fuel delivery unit, removing and installing.
