Triple roller joint AAR 3300i, disassembling and assembling

Disassembling
- Open hose clamp.
- Open clamp on shaft and slide back joint protective boot.
- Pull the joint off the axle shaft.





- Remove circlip.
1. Pliers (available commercially) or VW 161 A
- Insert axle shaft in press.





- Press out star of the axle shaft.
- Pull protective boot off shaft.
- Clean shaft, joint and groove for oil seal.

Assembling
- Slide small clamp for joint protective boot in to shaft.
- Slide joint protective boot in to shaft.
- Slide joint in to shaft.

Assembling star
Conical-type axle shaft
The chamfer on star faces toward shaft, this is used as an assembly aid.





- Install star in to shaft and press in to stop.
- Make sure that the pressure does not exceed 3.0 t (6614 lbs.)!
- If necessary coat axle shaft splines and star with lubricating paste G 052 142 A2.
- Insert circlip, make sure seated correctly.
- Press 70 grams (2.47 oz.) of joint grease from repair set into triple roller joint.
- Slide joint over rollers and hold.
- Press 60 grams (2.1 oz.) of joint grease from repair set into the reverse side of the triple roller joint.
- Install joint protective boot.
- Install hose clamp.
- Depending upon type of hose clip use pliers VAG 1275 or VAG 3340.

Assembling star
Cylindrical-type axle shaft





- Install star in to shaft and press in to stop.
The further assembly is as previously described.
