Leak Detection Pump (LDP) -V144-, checking

Special tools and equipment





^ Hand multimeter VAG 1526 or multimeter VAG 1715





^ VAG 1594 Adapter set

Test conditions
^ No DTC's may be stored in DTC memory
Refer to Powertrain Management

Checking activation
- Check activation of LDP -V144- via output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM):
Refer to Powertrain Management1

If activation is OK:
- Check resistance at LDP -V144.

Checking resistance
- Remove rear right wheel housing liner





- Disconnect 3-pin connector -arrow- for Leak Detection Pump (LDP) -V144-.





- Connect multimeter to measure resistance between contacts 1 and 3 of LDP -V144- using adapter cables from VAG 1594 A
Specification: 640.... 720 ohms
- Connect multimeter to measure resistance between contacts 2 and 3 of LDP -V144- using adapter cables from VAG 1594 A
Specification: 12.5 19.5 ohms

If the specifications are not attained:
- Replace Leak Detection Pump (LDP)
- Check DTC memory:

- Read readiness code:
Refer to Powertrain Management
- Generate readiness code again if DTC memory has been erased or engine control module separated from permanent positive supply.
