- Check all steering column parts for damage.
- If damaged, replace complete steering column.
Functional check
Test requirements:
^ Steering column universal joint removed from steering gear.
- Make sure steering column turns easily without catching.
- Make sure steering column can be adjusted for tilt and telescopic.
- Check gap
Dimension a; Maximum 23 mm (0.906 inch).
If the specification is exceeded, the steering column is damaged.
- Replace steering column in this case.
- Identify and replace steering column
