Differential Assembly: Adjustments

Adjusting sun wheels and planet pinions
- Insert sun wheels with 0.5 mm thick shims.
- Insert planet pinions turned through 180 with thrust washers.

Ensure that the thrust washers are not interchanged now.
- Drive in pinion axle.
- Press planet pinions outward.





- Press sun wheels in direction of arrows and check play.
- Determine thickest shim (that can still just be fitted) for sun wheel on each side.
- Select shims of same thickness.

- Allocate shims according to Parts catalog.





- When no play can be measured, but the differential gears can just still be turned, the adjustment is correct.
