Disassembling and Assembling (AWD)
Suspension strut, disassembling and assembling
Special tools and equipment required
- T10001 Special tools for struts/shock absorbers
- VAG 1 332 Torque wrench
- VAG 1 752/1 Suspension strut clamp
- VAG 1752/7 Spring retainer
Disassembling
- Insert suspension strut clamp VAG 1752/1 into coil spring.
- Make sure that the coil spring is seated correctly in adapter VAG 1 752/7 -arrow-.
- Tighten coil spring with suspension strut clamp VAG 1752/1 until the upper shock absorber mounting is free.
- Remove hex nut from piston rod using T10001.

- Remove coil spring and elements from shock absorber.
Assembling
Assemble in reverse order.
The ends of the upper and lower of the coil spring must be in contact with the spring seat -arrow-.
The figure shows the lower spring end. It must face center of vehicle.
Installation position of shock absorber mounting
The axis of the pins -1- must align with the lower shock absorber bushing axis -2-.
