Engine, installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
- Check clutch release bearing for wear, replace if necessary.
- Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and splines on input shaft with grease G 000 100.
- Check whether dowel sleeves for centering engine/transmission are in cylinder block and install if necessary.
- When installing assembly, ensure sufficient clearance to axle shafts.
- Align engine and transmission mountings.
Tightening torques, Refer to Engine, Specifications, Mechanical.
- Install axle shafts:

Vehicles with manual transmission 02J
- Install hydraulic clutch slave cylinder
- Install shift mechanism and adjust cable mechanism if necessary:

Vehicles with automatic transmission
- Install selector cable on transmission, adjust if necessary:

Continuation for all vehicles
- Install power steering pump:
- Reconnect pipe between charge air cooler and intake connecting flange at intake connecting flange.
- Reconnect electrical connections and check routing:

Vehicles with air conditioning
- Install air conditioning compressor

Continuation for all vehicles
- Install poly V-belt.
- Install center, left and right insulation trays:
- Fill with coolant.
- Road test vehicle and read fault memory.
