Engine, securing to assembly stand
When working on the engine, it must be secured to the support clamp VW313 using the engine and transmission bracket VW540.
Work sequence
- Remove transmission.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
- Secure torque converter to prevent it from falling out after separating engine from transmission.
Continuation for all vehicles
- Attach lifting tackle 2024A as follows and lift off engine/transmission jack V.A.G1 383A with workshop crane.
- Belt pulley end- 2nd hole on support bar in position 1
- Flywheel end- 4th hole on support bar in position 8
Caution: The hooks and locating pins must be secured with locking pins.
Note:
^ The positions marked I ... 4 on the bar must be toward the belt pulley end.
^ The holes in the hook rails are counted up from the hook.
- Secure engine to support clamp VW313 using engine and transmission bracket VW540.
Note: First loosen coolant pipe at flywheel end.
