Front axle overview

I - Sub-frame, stabilizer bar and control arm, assembly overview

Note:
^ If a vehicle that has a drive axle removed is to be moved, an outer CV joint must be installed in place of the axle shaft and be tightened to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.), otherwise the wheel bearing will be damaged.
^ Welding and straightening operations are not permitted on load-bearing or wheel-controlling suspension components.
^ Always replace self-locking nuts.
^ Always replaced corroded nuts/bolts.





1. Sub-frame retaining bracket
The captive nut cannot be reworked. If the nut is damaged, replace complete mounting bracket.
2. Weld nut in body
If welded nut threads are damaged, threads can be repaired using Heli-Coil thread inserts.
3. Bonded rubber bushing
4. Hex bolt M 14x 1.5 x63
^ 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 90° - 1/4 turn
^ Always replace
5. Self-locking nut
^ Always replace
6. Rear control arm bushing
^ Pressing out/in control arm rear bushing
7. Hex bolt M 12x1.5x70
^ 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 90° - 1/4 turn
^ Always replace
8. Self-locking nut, 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace
9. Ball joint
^ Checking; Refer to Ball Joint; Testing and Inspection
10. Hex nut, 75 Nm (55.3 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace
11. Semi-trailing arm
12. Hex head bolt, 25 Nm (18.4 ft. lbs.)
13. Vehicle Level control system sensor G78
14. Front control arm bushing
^ Pressing out front control arm bushing
^ Pressing in front control arm bushing
15. Hex bolt M 14x 1.5 x95
^ 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 90° - 1/4 turn
^ Always replace
16. Connecting Link
17. Hex nut, 90 Nm (66.4 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace
18. Stabilizer bar
^ The sub-frame must be lowered to remove and install.
19. Hex bolt M12 x 1.5x78
^ 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 90° - 1/4 turn
^ Always replace
20. Hex head bolt, 25 Nm (18.4 ft. lbs.)
^ M8X45
21. Hex bolt, 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
^ M10 x 70
22. Hex bolt, 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
^ M10 x 30
23. Pendulum support
24. Sub-frame
^ If damaged, do not repair threads in sub-frame for front control arm bolt!
25. Rubber bushing
26. Clamp
27. Hex bolt, 25 Nm (18.4 ft. lbs.)
