Component Locations, Overview - I



Component Locations Overview (Engine Codes BBW, BEV)

The components A, B C and D are not shown on the illustration.

A Brake pedal switch -F47- or Brake light switch -F-
- Together in one housing in footwell
B Throttle Position (TP) sensor -G79- and Sender 2 for accelerator pedal position -G185-
- In footwell at accelerator pedal
C Clutch pedal switch -F36-
- In footwell
D Fuel pressure regulator
- On fuel filter in fuel tank







1. Valve 1 for camshaft adjustment -N205- -
- Controlled by engine control module
2. Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112-
3. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor -G40-
- In cylinder head cover
4. 81-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Release to disconnect
5. Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-
- On replacement, control module must be matched to electronic immobilizer, adapting components
- Installed location: In plenum chamber
6. 40-pin connector
- Only disconnect or connect with ignition switched off
- Release to disconnect
7. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor -G62-
- For engine control module
- Gold plated contacts
- Release pressure in coolant system if necessary before removing components
8. Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve -N80-
- EVAP system, servicing.
9. Intake manifold
10. Throttle valve control module -J338-
- When replacing, adapt (match) engine control module to throttle valve control module, adapting components
- 6-pin connector
- Gold plated contacts
11. Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) heating element -N79-
- For crankcase breather
12. Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor -G70- with Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor -G42-
- Gold plated contacts
13. Protective housing for relays
- Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump relay -J299-
- Motronic ECM power supply relay -J271-
- Relay assignment in protective housing, see Fig. 1

16. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G130-, 50 Nm
- Installed location: In rear of catalytic converter
- When replacing erase Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory.
17. 4-pin connector
- Brown
- Connector contacts 3 and 4 are gold plated
- For O2S Behind TWC -G130- and Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater 1 Behind TWC -Z29-
- Installed location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 2
18. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) in Center Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) bank 1 -G465-, 50 Nm
- Installed location: In center catalyst
- When replacing erase DTC memory.
19. 4-pin connector
- Black
- Connector contacts 3 and 4 are gold plated
- For O2S in center TWC bank 1 -G465- and O2S heater - center TWC -Z59-
- Installed location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 2
20. Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor 1 -G235-, 45 Nm
- Installed location: In exhaust pipe
- When replacing erase DTC memory.
21. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39-, 50 Nm
- Installed location: In exhaust manifold
- When replacing erase DTC memory.
22. 6-pin connector
- Black for HO2S -G39- and O2S heater -Z19-
- Gold plated contacts
- Installed location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 2
23. 2-pin connector
- Black for Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor 1 -G235-
- Gold plated contacts
- Installed location: On right on underside of vehicle, see Fig. 2
24. Knock Sensor (KS) 1 -G61-
- Gold plated contacts
25. Knock Sensor (KS) 2 -G66-
- Next to ignition transformer
- Gold plated contacts
26. Injectors -N30-, -N31-, -N32-, -N33-
- Air shrouded
- Checking quantity injected and for leaks.
27. Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump motor -V101-
28. Engine speed (RPM) sensor -G28-
- Torque setting 10 Nm
29. Ignition coils with final output stages -N70-, -N127-, -N291-, -N292-

NOTE:
- The relay locations may differ depending on level of equipment.
- For latest control numbers and installed locations:
- Disconnect battery Ground strap first if tools are required to pull relays or control modules out of the relay plate.
- Before disconnecting the battery Ground strap obtain code for radios with anti-theft coding.
