Transverse Link, Removing and Installing
Transverse link, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Tightening strap T10038
^ Support T10149
- Measure dimension - a - from the center of the wheel to the lower edge of the wheel housing.
- Make a note of measurement. This is necessary to tighten the bolts for the rear axle to the bearing bracket.
Removing
Vehicles with automatic headlight range control
- Removing coupling rod from Left Rear Level Control System Sensor G76 from rear axle.
Continued for all vehicles
- First remove spring
Removing and installing spring R32 => 42-3, Spring R32, removing and installing
- Disconnect axle shaft - 1 - from final drive flange shaft - 2 -
- Remove bolt -1 - and/or - 2 -
3 - Upper transverse link
4 - Lower transverse link
5 - Trailing arm
- Remove bolt -1 - and/or - 2 - .
To make easier disassembly/assembly unscrew bolt - 5 - if necessary.
3 - Upper transverse link
4 - Lower transverse link
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence.
Tighten vehicle to the lifting platform
Caution: If the vehicle is not secured, there is a risk that it may slip off the lifting platform.
- Remove plugs from trailing arm - 3 - and tighten the tensioning strap.
1 - Support arm of lifting platform
2 - Tensioning strap T10038 . The vehicle must be fastened with the tensioning straps on left and right side.
Tightening bearing bracket is only possible, when the measured value - a - from the middle of wheel hub to lower edge bordering wheel housing is reached.
- Turn the wheel hub until one of the holes for the wheel bolts is at the 12 o'clock position.
- Install the support T10149 with a wheel bolt.
- Lift wheel bearing housing using engine and transmission jack until dimension - a - is reached.
Caution:
^ Do not raise or lower the vehicle if the engine and transmission jack is under the vehicle.
^ Do not /cave engine and transmission jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
- Tighten bolts from transverse link to rear axle with tightening torque.
Check camber and toe adjustment on alignment stand after installing.
Fastener/location Tightening torques:
