Window Regulator, Troubleshooting

Prior to changing a window regulator, due to a binding condition, please follow these steps:

NOTE:
- Glass must be tight on the clamp carrier of the window regulator.
- The window channel opening must be uniform and consistent all the way around the opening and at the weld joint at the lower A-pillar area.
- If the glass is not going all the way down and/or a "clunk" noise occurs, check the motor programming using the VAS 5051 and check the system for any malfunctions or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).
- These steps must be performed when replacing the old motor with a new one or when the battery is discharged.

If door window binds in up (raised) position, activate pinch protection using following:
- Raise window glass all the way up and press window up switch 2X (two times).
- Lower window glass all the way down and press window down switch 2x (two times).
- Cycle window glass up and down. You must hear a "clunk" noise, which means that glass is now fully seated on window regulator.
- Cycle window up and down several times to verify effectiveness of the repair.
