Rear Ashtray or Power Outlet Housing Broken

Tip:

Only applicable with jumbo box and arm rest options; PR-6E3+7A8 or PR-6E3+7A9.

Technical Background

The known causes are:





The plastic gear -arrow- becomes loose.





The plastic pivot pin -arrow- breaks.

Production Solution

New cover and rear ashtray or power outlet housing design change (CW 32/06) as of VIN: 1C_7M501610 and 1Y_7M402409.

Service

Procedure

^ Remove cover and rear ashtray or power outlet housing. See ElsaWeb, Repair Manual, Body Interior, 68 - Interior Equipment, Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim.





The cover and rear ashtray or power outlet -arrows- needs to be replaced.

DO NOT replace beverage holder.

Tip:

Use PR code to obtain parts. See required parts and Tools.





New cover design, as shown.





^ Remove and install beverage holder to newer design cover -arrows-.

^ Install new cover and ashtray or power outlet.

^ Ensure to attach electrical connector, if applicable.

Tip:





Advise customer the new ashtray or power outlet housing has a PUSH operation -arrow-

DO NOT interchange any components (ie, springs) from both designs.
