Shock Absorber : With Aluminum Wheel Bearing Housing (AWD)
Shock absorber on vehicles with aluminum wheel bearing housings, removing and installing
- Remove wheel.
- Remove securing bolts -arrows- from brake caliper housing while counter-holding on guide pins.
- Take off brake caliper housing and secure with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose.
- Remove clamp -3- for anti-roll bar -2-.

4. Eccentric bolt
- Remove coupling link -1- from anti-roll bar.
- Remove bolt -2- for control arm -1-.
Vehicles with automatic headlight range control
- Remove nut -arrow A- from coupling rod -1- for vehicle attitude sensor -2- while counter holding on the wrench surfaces -arrow B-.
- Pull out coupling rod -1- for vehicle attitude sensor -2- in direction of arrow.
3. Upper control arm
- Unbolt -arrows A- protective tube -1- from upper control arm -2-.
Continued for all vehicles
- Remove securing bolts -arrows B- for upper control arm -2- and take off control arm upward.
- Unbolt shock absorber hex bolts (arrows) to body.
- Unbolt shock absorber bolt -3- to control arm -1- and remove shock absorber.
- To remove shock absorber pull wheel bearing housing lightly downward.
Installing
Install in reverse order.
- Install wheel and tighten.
Tightening torques:
Stabilizer bar clamp to subframe
*Self-locking nut, 20 Nm
Coupling link to stabilizer bar
*Self-locking nut, 50 Nm
Upper control arm to wheel bearing housing
*Hex bolt M 12 x 1.5 x 95 70 Nm plus additional 90° turn
Shock absorber to body
*Hex head bolt, 45 Nm
*Replace each time after removing
