Warning lights

The new instrument cluster, the function of brake and parking brake warning light -K7- is assumed by the warning light for brake system -K118-.

ABS warning light -K47

^ If the ABS warning light -K47- -3- does not go out after the ignition switched is on, and the test sequence is completed, the malfunction may be:
^ Voltage supply is below 10 Volt
^ There is a malfunction in the hydraulic unit; the ABS system is not operational.

A braking change is to be looked at. After the ABS warning light comes on the rear wheels can lock-up when braking!
^ Since the last time the vehicle was started there was a temporary ABS wheel speed sensor malfunction.
The ABS warning light will go off after the engine is restarted and the vehicle speed exceeds 2.75 km/h.
^ The connection from instrument cluster to ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- is interrupted.

^ The ABS warning light malfunction.

Warning lights -K47- and -K118-

^ If the ABS warning light -K47- -3- goes out, but the warning light for brake system -K118--3- lights up, the malfunction may be:
^ The brake fluid level is too low.
^ Three warning tones are audible after switching on the ignition.
^ There is a malfunction in the wiring to warning light for brake system -K118-.

^ If the ABS warning light -K47- -3- and the warning light for brake system -K118- -4- both light up, the ABS system malfunctioned. A change in braking must be looked at.

WARNING! After the ABS warning light -K47- and warning light for brake system -K118- have lit up it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up.

Traction control indicator light -K86-

^ If the ASR traction control indicator light -K86- -1- does not go out after switching on ignition and completion of the test sequence, the malfunction may be:
There is a malfunction, which only affects the ASR. The ABS and EDL systems on the vehicle will remain fully functional.

^ The ASR warning light goes out 5 minutes after switching ignition on.

^ A short to ground in the activation of the ASR warning light.
In this case check wiring from contact 20 of ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- to instrument cluster.

^ The ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- has been incorrectly coded after exchanging the hydraulic unit.
In this case check DTC memory first. Then recode ABS control module (w/EDL) -J1 04-.
^ Code control module using VAS 5051 via "Guided fault finding" function.

^ If the ASR traction control indicator light -K86- -1- does not light up during the self test, the malfunction may be:
^ The ASR warning light has malfunctioned.
Refer to Checking DTC memory

Warning light -K47-,-K86- and -K118-

^ If ABS warning light -K47- -3- goes out but not traction control indicator light -K86- -1- and the warning light for brake system -K118- -4-, the malfunction may be:
^ Voltage supply for ABS system is below 10 volts and the vehicle speed is less than 12 km/h (approximately 7.5 mph).
^ There is a malfunction in the hydraulic unit; the ABS system is not operational.

A braking change is to be looked at. The rear wheels can lock-up when braking!
^ A dynamic ABS wheel speed sensor malfunction was present during the last driving period.
In this case the warning lights goes out automatically after the vehicle is restarted and a speed of 2.75 km/h (approximately 1.7 mph) is exceeded. Check the DTC's on the speed sensor and clear all codes and check that the DTC's no longer appear.

^ If the ABS warning light -K47- -3- and the traction control indicator light -K86- -1- lights up after the ignition switched is on and the selftest sequence is completed, the malfunction may be:

WARNING! After the ABS warning light -K47- and warning light for brake system -K118- have lit up it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up.

^ Connection from ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- contact 21 to instrument cluster, which is used to activate the ABS warning light -K47-, has an open circuit or short to positive.

^ Voltage supply for ABS system is below 10 volts and the vehicle speed is less than 12 km/h (approximately 7.5 mph).

Brake and parking brake warning light -K7-

In the new instrument cluster, the function of brake and parking brake warning light -K7- is assumed by the Warning light for brake system -K118-.

^ If the brake and parking brake warning light -K7- -5- does not go out after switching the ignition on, the malfunction may be:
^ The parking brake is applied.
^ The switch for the brake and parking brake warning light -K7- is faulty or incorrectly adjusted.
^ There is a wire routing malfunction

Brake pad wear indicator light -K32-
This warning light is not in all vehicles.
^ If the brake pad wear indicator warning light -K32- -2- does not go out after 3 seconds the ignition is switched on, or it comes on during a drive, the malfunction may be:
^ The brake pads are worn.
Check front and rear brake pads. Replace worn brake pads.
^ There is a wire routing malfunction.
