Steel wheel bearing housing, removing and installing
Removing





- Remove hex bolt for drive shaft.
- Remove wheels.
- Remove securing bolts -1- from brake caliper.
- Remove brake caliper and hang up on body.
- Take off disc brake.
- Remove bolts for splash plate.
- Take off splash plate.
- Disconnect ABS vehicle speed sensor out from wheel bearing housing.





- Remove coupling rod from stabilizer bar.

- Remove bolt -A- for tie rod.
- Mark installation position of eccentric washer for bolt -B-.
- Remove bolt -B-.





- Remove bolt -2- for control arm -1-.
- Pull wheel bearing housing off drive shaft.

Installing
Install in reverse order
- Install wheels and tighten.
After installing check position of steering wheel during a test drive.
If steering wheel is not in straight ahead position the front axle tracking must be checked!

Tightening torques:
Upper control arm to wheel bearing housing
*Hex bolt M 12 x 1.5 x 95 70 Nm plus additional 90° turn
Lower control arm to wheel bearing housing
*Self-locking nut, 95 Nm
Drive shaft to wheel hub
Hex bolt
Bolt M 14: 115 Nm plus additional 180° turn
Bolt M16: 190 Nm plus additional 180° turn
*Replace each time after removing
Tie rod to wheel bearing housing
Hex bolt M 12 x 1.5 x 85 95 Nm
Only for vehicles with 8-cylinder engines
Coupling rod to stabilizer bar
*Self-locking nut, 50 Nm
*Replace each time after removing
Splash plate to wheel bearing housing
Hex head bolt, 10 Nm
