Special tools and equipment
^ 10-201 Counter-hold tool
^ 3067 Counter hold tool
^ 3176 Centering mandrel
^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench
(Transmission removed)
Note:
^ Replace clutch plates and pressure plates with damaged or loose rivets
^ Select correct clutch plate and pressure plate according to parts list and engine code.
^ Clutch illustrated in conjunction with two-part flywheel
1. Flywheel
^ Ensure centering pins are a tight fit
^ Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
^ If white marks are present on flywheel -A and pressure plate -B- - align them during assembly
2. Clutch plate
3. Pressure plate
4. Bolt, 25 Nm
^ Loosen and tighten gradually and in diagonal sequence
5. Needle roller bearing

- Loosen and tighten bolts gradually and diagonally.
- Reverse position of retainer 3067 when removing.
- If there are white marks on dual mass flywheel (arrow -A-) and pressure plate (arrow -B-),make sure that they line up when assembling.
Note:
^ Contact surface of pressure plate and clutch plate lining must rest fully on the flywheel.
^ Tighten securing bolts in a diagonal sequence equally so that the center hole of the pressure plate and the centering pins of the flywheel do not become damaged.

- Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring is permitted.

- Loosen and tighten bolts gradually and in diagonal sequence.
Note:
^ Contact surface of pressure plate and clutch plate lining must rest fully on the flywheel.
^ Tighten securing bolts in diagonal sequence equally so that the center hole of the pressure plate and the centering pins of the flywheel do not become damaged.
^ The adjusting ring on the self-adjusting pressure plate must only be reset when a new clutch plate is installed.
