Axle Oil In Transfer Case, Checking and Topping Off

Axle oil in transfer case, checking and topping off, 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip tray V.A.G. 1306:

Torque wrench 550 Nm V.A.G. 1331:

^ Drive the vehicle onto a 4-column lift or over a work pit so that it is level.
^ Remove right front exhaust pipe.
^ Place drip tray V.A.G. 1306 underneath.





^ Unscrew sealing plug for checking axle oil - arrow B -.

Oil level is correct when the transfer case is filled up to lower edge of oil filler hole.
^ Drain off any excess axle oil or top off to proper level.
^ Always replace plug.
^ Tighten new sealing plug - arrow B -.
