Rear Window Wiper System, Removing And Installing

CAUTION: Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items needed







- VAG 1331 Torque wrench (or equivalent 5 - 50 Nm )

Rear window wiper arm, removing

NOTE: Before removing wiper arm, ensure wiper motor is in park position. This ensures proper wiper arm/blade park position when reinstalling.

- Disconnect battery.







- Pry up wiper arm cap -arrow- with a screwdriver.
- Loosen M8 nut -arrow-, but do not remove completely.
- Rock wiper arm back and forth on shaft until felt to release.
- Remove nut completely and remove wiper arm.

Rear Window Wiper Motor -V12-, removing
- Remove inner trim from rear hatch as applicable for production from 10.00.







- Disconnect electrical connector -1- from wiper motor.
- Pull off hose -2- to washer jets.
- Remove M10 hex bolts -arrows- and remove wiper motor.

When installing the wiper motor, ensure rear window seal seating as illustrated.

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Torque all fasteners according to value in table.
- Reconnect battery.

NOTE: Before installing wiper arm, ensure wiper motor is in park position. This ensures proper wiper arm/blade park position when reinstalling.







- Mount wiper arm onto wiper shaft in approximate parked location.
- Install M8 nut -arrow- hand tight only.
- Adjust rear wiper arm park position.
- Torque all fasteners according to value in table.
