Interior - Water Leaks into Footwell Area

Water Accumulates in Floor Area After Heavy Rains

Passat, Passat Wagon 2001 > 2004

Condition

Vehicle footwell carpet is wet after heavy rain. May be caused by water entering interior due to damaged Pollen filter housing seal or debris blocking plenum drain.

Service

- Remove pollen filter housing (see Repair Manual Group 87-Air conditioning Dust and pollen filter from 10.00, removing and installing).





- Inspect for evidence of water ingress.

- Inspect water seal for damage and proper positioning





- Illustration shows damaged seal on underside of pollen filter housing.

- Replace seal if damaged.

Check fresh air plenum drain (under battery) and area near drain for debris (see Warranty disclaimer below).





- Remove any debris from plenum and ensure drain under battery for plenum is open.

- Reinstall pollen filter housing (see Repair Manual Group 87-Air conditioning Dust and pollen filter from 10.00, removing and installing).

- Verify proper seal position after installation.
