Sequence for disassembling and assembling
Lubricate mounting and sliding surfaces with Polyurea grease Part No. G 052 142 A2.
1. Selector lever handle
2. Sleeve
- Clips into selector lever handle
- Installation position: Angled section faces inward
3. Cover
- With trim piece - 6 -, symbol Panel- 7 -, cover strip - 8 -and guide 9
- Lift up to remove
4. Guide sleeve
- Slide onto selector lever- 14
- Installation position: Engage foot to rear
5. Cover molding
- With trim piece - 6 -and symbol Panel- 7 -
- Cannot be replaced as single item
6. Trim piece
- Integrated in symbol Panel- 7 -in cover molding -5
- Cannot be replaced as single item
7. Symbol panel
- With printed circuit
- With Tiptronic switch -F189 integrated in printed circuit
- Integrated In trim piece - 6 -in cover molding -5
- Cannot be replaced as single item
8. Cover strip
- With 2 solenoids for Tiptronic switch -F189- and gear indicator
- Solenoids must be fitted securely on cover strip
9. Guide
- Guides masking panel
- Unclip from cover molding -5-
10. Mounting bush
- Secure in mounting bracket - 22 with locking clip - 11 -
11. Locking plate
- Secures mounting bush 10 in mounting bracket -22 -
- Install with angled ends pointing toward inside of mounting bracket
12. Pull rod

14. Selector lever
- With pull rod, coil spring, selector gate and Tiptronic spring mechanism
15. Stop buffer
- Clip into cable lever- 17
- Install with large contact surface toward selector lever
16. Detent
- Clip into cable lever- 17
17. Cable lever
- Secured In mounting bracket - 22 with fulcrum pin - 23 -
18. Spring clip with roller
- For gearshift positions
19. Spring clip with roller
- For Tiptronic position
20. Frame
- Clip onto mounting bracket
- Install with ribbed side upward
21. Nut, 10 Nm

- Secures cable lever 17 in mounting bracket -22 -
24. Locking pawl
- For selector lever lock
25. Shift lock solenoid -N110
- Can be checked using "guided fault finding" with the VAS 5051
26. Fulcrum pin

- With seal for mounting bracket
28. Nut, 10 Nm
29. Securing clip
- Secures selector lever cable to cable lever- 17
- Install with angled end forward and upward
30. Locking plate
- Secures selector lever cable to mounting bracket
- Angled end points to end of selector lever cable
31. Selector lever cable
- Do not bend or kink, lightly grease cable eye and ball socket before installing.
- Selector lever cable must be replaced if rubber sleeves are damaged
- When installing, make sure that rubber sleeve on transmission side is not twisted
32. Hex bolt, 23 Nm
33. Support bracket
- For mounting selector lever cable on transmission
