^ VAG 1331 Torque or equivalent

Note:
^ The vehicle should be standing absolutely level when the transmission oil level is checked. This is best done using a pit or a 4-pillar lifting platform.
^ Adhere strictly to specified oil level; the transmission reacts sensitively to overfilling..

Transmission gear oil level is checked with transmission installed.





- Remove plug -B- to check oil.
- Check oil level with self-made tool, e.g. a bent wire. Oil level is correct when transmission is filled... to 4 mm, transmission without oil pump to 9 mm, transmission with an oil pump ...below oil filler hole.
- Tighten bolt -B- to prescribed torque.

When filling with new oil note following:
- Remove plug -B-.
- Fill transmission oil to 4 mm below lower edge of filler hole.
- Install plug -B-.
- Start engine, engage gear and allow transmission to turn for approximately 2 minutes.
- Stop engine and remove plug -B-.
- Replenish transmission oil...
to 4 mm, transmission without oil pump
to 9 mm, transmission with an oil pump
below oil filler hole.
- Tighten bolt -B- to prescribed torque.
