General Notes on Fuel Injection - II
General Notes On Fuel Injection
- Fuel hoses in engine compartment must be secured with clamps Parts catalog.
- Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine will not be burned in the engine and will damage the oxygen sensor.
- The engine control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Before performing repairs and fault finding the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory must be checked. See Engine Control Module (ECM) Diagnostic Trouble Code DTC) memory, checking and erasing, Engine control module DTC memory, checking and erasing. Also, the vacuum hoses and connections must be checked for unmetered air.
- For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary.
- The battery must only be disconnected and connected with the ignition switched off, since the Engine Control Module (ECM) can otherwise be damaged.
- It is possible that the control module will recognize a malfunction and store a DTC during some tests. Therefore, after completing all checks and repairs the DTC memory must be checked and, if necessary, erased.
- Check DTC memory, repair any malfunctions and then erase DTC memory. See DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), checking and erasing.
