Fuel tank with attachments and fuel filter, removing and installing

All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles







1 Cap
2 Seal
- Replace if damaged
3 Mounting screw
4 Tank lid unit
- with rubber cap
5 O-ring
- Replace if damaged
6 Bleeder valve
- to remove, unclip valve sideways from connection
- before installing, unscrew cap, item 1
- Checking Fig. 2
7 Connection hose
8 Gravity valve
- To remove, unclip valve upward from connection
- Checking valve for throughput
Valve vertical: open,
Valve tilted 45 degrees: closed
9 25 Nm
10 Fuel filler neck
11 Check-valve
- Note installation position: white valve side faces toward the sealing cap
12 Connection hose
13 Heat shield
- for fuel filler neck
14 10 Nm
15 Union nut, 60 Nm
16 Connector
- Black
- Sender for fuel gauge
17 Flange
- Note installation position at fuel tank Fig.1
18 Seal
- to install, place into opening of fuel tank when dry
- Replace if damaged
- only coat with fuel when installing flange
19 Vent line
- Black
- Check for secure fitting
- secure with spring type clamps
20 Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237-
21 Heat shield
- for fuel tank
22 Mounting clip
- Check for secure fitting
23 Tension strap
- Note installed position
24 Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169-
25 Locking ring
- Check for secure fitting
26 Fuel tank
27 Return line
- blue or with blue marking
- Check for secure fitting
- secure with spring type clamps
- from fuel return line at fuel rail
28 Supply line
- Black
- Check for secure fitting
- secure with spring type clamps
29 Sender for fuel gauge -G-
- Clipped in at baffle housing in fuel tank
30 Fuel Pump (FP)
- Check Fuel Pump (FP)
- Clean strainer if dirty
31 Supply line
- Black
- Check for secure fitting
- secure with spring type clamps
- to fuel return line at fuel rail
32 Fuel filter
- Installation position: Arrow points in direction of flow
33 Vent line
- Filler ventilation
- Check for secure fitting
- Clipped in sideways at fuel tank
- secure with spring type clamps
- to EVAP canister
34 Ground (GND) connection
- Check for secure fitting

Marking on flange -1- must align with marking on fuel tank -2-.


NOTE: After installing Fuel Pump (FP) flange, check whether supply, return and vent lines are still clipped in at fuel tank.

NOTE: Before installing bleeder valve, unscrew cover from fuel tank.
