Mufflers With Mounts







1 Double clamp
- Tighten evenly to 40 Nm
2 Center muffler
3 Mounting component
4 25 Nm
5 Rear muffler
- At factory, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement center and rear mufflers are supplied separately, with double clamp for connecting joint.
- Using V.A.G 1523 body repair saw, cut connecting pipe at separating point at right angle, See Fig. 1
6 End pipe
- Align in bumper cutout
7 Clamp
- Tighten to 40 Nm
8 Dimension -a- = approx. 10 mm
- Exhaust system must be cold
- Arrow shows direction of travel
9 Double clamp (for repair)
- Double clamp viewed in direction of travel
- Note installed position

11 Dimension -a- = approx. 4 mm
- Exhaust system must be cold

- Bolt heads must point toward transmission.

- Body saw, e.g. V.A.G 1523

Work procedure
- Separate connecting pipes between center muffler and rear muffler at the locations marked with a groove:
Dimension -a- approx. 510 mm.
Dimension -b- approx. 535 mm.
