Battery Types

CAUTION!
The following batteries described are maintenance-free batteries. No labels may be removed and no distilled water may be added. Only perform a visual inspection. Note the chapter on battery testing. Refer to --> [ Battery with Visual Indicator, Checking ] Battery with Visual Indicator, Checking.

Battery with Visual Indicator

This is a maintenance-free battery with liquid electrolyte (wet battery).

CAUTION!
Batteries that have a colorless or light yellow visual indicator must not be tested or charged. Jump starting must not be used!

There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.

These batteries must be replaced.

This battery is equipped with a visual indicator "visual indicator". The visual indicator gives information about the charge status and acid level of the battery via a color display. AGM Battery

Maintenance-free battery with fixed electrolyte without visual indicator.

Lead-acid battery, where the electrolyte is fixed in an absorbent glass mat (AGM). The battery is closed and equipped with breather valves.

AGM is the English abbreviation for Absorbent Glass Mat.

These batteries cannot have a visual indicator due to the fixed electrolyte. Glass mat batteries are identified with the abbreviation AGM on the battery.

When replacing an AGM battery, another AGM battery must be installed.
