Parking Brake System: Adjustments
Park Brake Adjusting
• Adjustment must only be performed on both adjustment devices for rear wheels! Adjustment must never be performed at park brake pedal or transfer module on center console!
• Observe correct routing and guiding of park brake cables!
• If the brake shoes were replaced, adjust air gap to the 6th teeth. Then run in brake shoes by braking vehicle in a single maneuver from a speed of approximately 50 km/h. Rear wheels must not lock up when doing so.
- Park brake pedal in released position.
- Remove rear wheels.
Brake discs must move freely. If necessary, press brake pads slightly back or move rear brake cables slightly back and forth.
- Remove bolt - arrow - for adjustment nut of park brake.
Adjusting Brake Shoes on Both Wheels
- Push screwdriver through hole in brake disc and turn adjustment nut - A - against resistance of pull spring - B - until brake disc can no longer be turned.
- Then loosen adjustment nut 6 teeth. Brake discs must move freely again.
- Free play of park brake pedal must be checked again.
- Install wheels.
Park Brake Pedal, Checking Play
• Press brake pedal 2 teeth, wheels must rotate freely without brake shoes dragging.
• Press park brake pedal 5 to 7 teeth, wheels must be fixed. In case wheels can still be rotated, park brake must be adjusted.
