NOTE:
- Cylinder bank 1 is located on right side in direction of travel.
- Cylinder bank 2 is located on left side in direction of travel.

- Always replace
- Coat threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound
2 25 Nm
- Always replace
- Coat threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound
3 Exhaust manifold
- For cylinder bank 1
- Can only be replaced with the engine removed:
4 Hex nut
- M8 = 25 Nm
- M10 = 40 Nm
5 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39- bank 1*, 50 Nm
- For cylinder bank 1
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Check oxygen sensor heater for oxygen sensors before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensors (O2S) and oxygen sensor control before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
6 Primary catalytic converter For cylinder bank 1
7 Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G130- bank 1*, 50 Nm
- For cylinder bank 1
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Check oxygen sensor heater for Oxygen Sensors (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensors (O2S) and oxygen sensor control behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
8 Catalytic converter with front exhaust pipe
- For cylinder bank 1
9 Support ring
- Note installation position, See Fig. 3. Installation Positions
10 25 Nm
11 To center muffler

12 Support ring
13 To center muffler

14 Gasket
- Always replace

16 Bracket
- For transmission support, right
17 Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G131- bank 2*, 50 Nm
- For cylinder bank 2
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Check oxygen sensor heater for Oxygen Sensors (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensors (O2S) and oxygen sensor control behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
18 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 -G108-*, 50 Nm
- For cylinder bank 2
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Check oxygen sensor heater for oxygen sensors before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensors (O2S) and oxygen sensor control before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
19 Catalytic converter with front exhaust pipe
- For cylinder bank 2
20 Primary catalytic converter

22 Bracket
- For transmission support, left
23 25 Nm
24 Exhaust manifold
- For cylinder bank 2
- Can only be replaced with the engine removed.
25 Gasket
- Always replace
- Note installed position.

Requirement
- Exhaust system, cold

Procedure
- Press exhaust system in direction of travel (arrow -1-) and tighten double clamps tightly until dimension -a- at suspensions is reached.
Center muffler:
- Dimension -a- = 10 mm
Rear muffler:
- Dimension -a- = 15 mm.
