Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83
Purpose of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 lights up when emissions-related malfunctions are recognized by the Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) J248.
Installed location of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83.
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 lights up when ignition is switched on.
If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 does not light up when ignition is switched on.
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 may blink or remain lit continuously. In any case, DTC memory must be checked.
- Blinking: A malfunction exists that, under these driving conditions, may damage catalytic converters. In this case, vehicle must only be driven at reduced load performance.
- Continuous light: A malfunction exists that causes increased emissions. Check DTC memory for Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) J248.
If there is a driveability problem or a customer complaint and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 does not light up, DTC memory must be checked. Malfunctions may have been stored, that do not immediately turn on the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83.
