Fuel Tank Assembly Overview
• Hose connections are secured with either spring-type or clamp-type clips.
• Always replace clamp-type clips with spring-type clips.
• Pliers for spring clamps (VAS 5024A) or hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1921) are recommended for installing spring clamps.

3 Ground connection
• Ensure seated tightly
4 10 Nm
5 Wiring router
6 Fuel Tank
• Removing and installing => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.
7 25 Nm
• Replace
8 Lock washer
9 Securing strap
• Note installation position
10 Heat shield
• For fuel tank
11 Seal
• Replace
• To install, lubricate with fuel
12 Fuel delivery unit
• With fuel level sensor (G)
• Note installation position in fuel tank => [ Installed Position of Fuel Delivery Unit ]
• Removing and installing => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
• Check fuel pump => [ Fuel Pump, Checking ] Fuel Pump, Checking.
• Fuel level sensor (G), removing and installing => [ Fuel Level Sensor ] Service and Repair.
• Clean strainer if contaminated
13 Locking ring, 110 Nm
• Use wrench (T10202) to remove and install
14 Supply line
• To fuel filter => [ (Item 1) Supply line ] Service and Repair
• Clipped in at fuel tank
• Ensure seated tightly
• Black
• To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
15 Return line
• From fuel cooler
• Blue or with blue marking
• Clipped in at fuel tank
• Ensure seated tightly
• To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
16 Tank flap unit
Installed Position of Fuel Delivery Unit
Tab - 2 - on fuel delivery unit must lie between tabs - 1 - and - 3 -.
• - Arrow - points in direction of travel.
• Fuel delivery unit can only be installed in this position.
