- Switch ignition off.
If selector lever position does not correspond to display of Control module with indicator unit in instrument cluster -J285-

Vehicles with 01M transmission

- Disconnect connector from Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125-.
Observe safety precautions.

Vehicles with 09A transmission

- Disconnect connector -2- from Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125-.
Observe safety precautions.

Continue for all vehicles
- Check harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.

If harness connector is not OK:
- Repair malfunction and repeat test sequence.
- Erase DTC memory of Transmission Control Module (TCM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
- Generate readiness code. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes

If harness connector is OK:
- Check wires to Transmission Control Module (TCM) according to wiring diagram.

Checking wires to Transmission Control Module (TCM)
- Connect test box to Transmission Control Module (TCM) wiring harness, connect test box for wiring test. Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test

Vehicles with 01M transmission

Terminal 4 + socket 41
Terminal 5 + socket 18
Terminal 6 + socket 1 and 24
Terminal 7 + socket 19

Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms

Continue for all vehicles
- Check wires for short circuit to each other.

Specified value: Infinite Ohms

If no malfunctions are found in wires:

Vehicles with 01M transmission
- Check adjustment of selector lever cable

Vehicles with 09A transmission
- Check adjustment of selector lever cable

Continue for all vehicles
- Erase DTC memory of Transmission Control Module (TCM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
- Generate readiness code. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes

If no malfunctions are detected in the wires and the selector lever cable adjustment is OK:
- Replace Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125-.
- Erase DTC memory of Transmission Control Module (TCM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
- Generate readiness code. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
