Engine Number
Engine number
The engine number consists of up to nine characters (alphanumeric). The first part (maximum 3 characters) makes up the "engine code", and the second part (6 characters), the "serial number". If more than 999,999 engines with the same engine code are produced, the first of the six characters is replaced with a letter.
The engine number ("Code letters" and "Serial number") can be found on the flange between engine and transmission.
"The engine code and engine number" are found on the sticker on the toothed belt guard or the valve cover.
The engine code is also located on the vehicle data sticker. The vehicle data sticker is located in the Owner's Manual Maintenance Booklet 1.1 and in rear of vehicle in the spare wheel recess or the luggage compartment floor.
