Ignition System: Description and Operation

General Notes On Ignition System

- The engine control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
- For trouble-free operation of electrical components, a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary.
- During some checks, it is possible that the control module will detect and store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). Therefore, after completing all checks and repairs, read the DTC memory and, if necessary, erase it.
- If the engine starts only for a short period of time after performing fault finding, repairs or component tests and then stalls, it could be that the immobilizer is blocking the engine control module. In such cases the DTC memory must be interrogated and the control module adapted, if necessary.
