Safety Regulations For Belt Tensioners

CAUTION:
- Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Belt tensioner components may be neither opened nor repaired; always use new parts (danger of an accident).
- Belt tensioner units which have received knocks or have been dropped must not be installed in a vehicle.
- Belt tensioner units which are mechanically damaged (dents, fractures, cracks) must always be replaced.
- Storage and transportation of belt tensioner units must comply with legislation for explosive substances.
- Airbag and seat belt tensioner units which have not been activated should be marked and returned to manufacturer for disposal (use airbag transport container.) Belt tensioners that have ignited (triggered) can be disposed of as normal scrap.
- Belt tensioner must be installed immediately after removal from its transport container.
- No tools with a hammer type action (e.g. impact driver) may be used to dismantle belt tensioner.
- If work is interrupted, belt tensioner must be placed in its packaging again.
- It is not permitted to leave belt tensioner unattended.
- Belt tensioner must not be treated with grease, cleaning or similar substances, nor may it be exposed to temperatures above 212 degree F (100 degree C), even for short periods.
- Pyrotechnic propellant has no expiration date, i.e. it has an unlimited maintenance-free life.
