Installation



Notes on installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:

CAUTION: When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
^ Route all types of lines (e.g. for fuel, hydraulic system, coolant, brake fluid, vacuum) as well as the electrical wiring so that the original positions are restored.
^ Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.


- Fit new dowel sleeves to centralize transmission on engine block.





- Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves - arrows-. Grease outer splines of input shaft lightly with grease G 000 100.
- When installing engine/transmission assembly, ensure that clearance exists between surrounding components.
- Guide power steering pressure line past transmission.
- Align assembly mountings for engine and transmission.
- Install selector lever cable.
- Install subframe.

Vehicles with air conditioning
- Note additional information and removal work on models with air conditioning.

Continued for all vehicles
- Install right side axle shaft and reconnect left side axle shaft at transmission.
- Install front exhaust pipe.
- Install power steering pump.
- Check electrical connections and routing.
- Install poly V-belt.
- Fill with coolant.
- Install center, left and right side sound insulation.
- Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, repair faults if necessary and then erase DTC memory.
- Test drive vehicle and read DTC memory of all control modules again.

^ Observe applicable safety precautions during road test.
