A/C Compressor and Bracket - 1.9L 4-Cylinder TDI-PD Engine, Assembly







Special tools, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm)

NOTE:
- The compressor bracket and related components can be removed and installed without having to open the refrigerant circuit.
- All ancillary components must be removed prior to removal of compressor mounting bracket.
- Ribbed belt, routing See Fig. 1.

1. Ribbed belt Service and Repair
- Ribbed belt, routing See Fig. 1.
2. Hex head bolts
- M8X45
- 25 Nm (16.2 ft.lb)
- Qty.: 3
3. Ribbed belt tensioner
4. Ribbed belt pulley with harmonic balancer
5. Hex head bolts
- M10X112
- 45 Nm (33 ft.lb)
- Qty.: 2
6. Hex head bolts
- M8X85
- 23 Nm (17 ft.lb)
- Qty.: 2
7. Generator (GEN) Service and Repair
8. Compressor
- Sanden SD7-V16
- With A/C clutch -N25-
- A/C clutch -N25-, servicing
9. Bracket
Mounting for:
- Generator
- Compressor
- Power steering pump Service and Repair
- Removing:
- Remove ribbed belt
- Remove Generator (GEN)
- Remove power steering pump
- Remove bolts -5-
- Remove compressor -8- from bracket, swing away and secure in engine compartment with wire.
- Remove bolts -10- (Qty.: 6)
- Remove compressor bracket from engine.
10. Hex head bolts
- M10X45
- 45 Nm (33 ft.lb)
- Qty.: 6

NOTE: When installing bracket, torque bolts in sequence beginning with bolt -A-, then -B-, -C- and so on as illustrated.

11. Hex head bolts
- M8X40
- 25 Nm (16.2 ft.lb)
12. Hex head bolts
- M8X40
- 25 Nm (16.2 ft.lb)
13. Power steering pump
14. Ribbed belt pulley
15. Hex head bolts
- M8X14
- 25 Nm (18.4 ft.lb)

16. Hex bolts
- M8X37
- 10 Nm (7.3 ft.lb) plus a quarter turn (90 degrees)
- Qty.: 4
