Fuel Gauge Sender, Checking
Fuel Gauge Sender, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Multimeter V.A.G 1526B
- Adapter set V.A.G 1594C
Work sequence
- Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.
- Disconnect 4-pin connector from flange on fuel delivery unit.
- Measure resistance at both contacts - 2 - and - 3 - on sealing flange:
Sender Fuel tank full Fuel tank empty
Fuel gauge sender 295 Ohms 52 Ohms
With a fuel gauge between "full" and "empty" a resistance value between both specifications must be indicated.
If 0 Ohm or Infinite Ohms is measured, there is a wiring open or short circuit.
NOTE: To check the resistance values "full" or "empty" the fuel gauge sender must be removed.
