Charge Air System With Turbocharger
Observe safety precautions.
Observe rules for cleanliness.
CAUTION:
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
- Route all the various lines (e.g. for fuel, hydraulic system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original positions are restored.
- Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
NOTE:
- Charge air system must be free of leaks.
- Replace self-locking nuts.
- Charge pressure hoses and their connections must be free of oil and grease before reinstalling.
- Do not install hoses with lubricants, moisten with water only, if necessary.
- Observe installation markings on hoses and components.
- All hoses of the charge air system are secured with hose clips or with quick release couplings.
- Install only approved clamps to fit hose connections electronic parts catalog "ETKA".
- To install spring-type clips spring type clip pliers VAS 5024 A or hose clamp pliers V.A.G 1921 are recommended.
- Fill turbocharger with engine oil through oil connection before connecting the oil supply pipe
- Allow engine to run for approx. 1 minute at idling speed after installing the turbocharger to ensure that oil is supplied. Do not rev the engine immediately.
Hoses/pipes with quick release coupling
Observe the following points when using quick release couplings:
- Unlock quick release coupling by pulling securing clamp - arrow -. Separate hose/pipe without assistance of tools.
- Check for secure fit of lugs - A - when installing.
