Gear oil, checking, 012/01W, 5 SPD. M/T

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Triple Square Socket Driver 3357:

Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm V.A.G. 1331:

Check transmission oil level when transmission is installed.

Transmission oil specification Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).





^ Unthread bolt for checking transmission fluid.
^ Oil level is correct when the final drive is filled up to lower edge of oil filler hole.
^ Screw in bolt.

When filling anew, note the following:
^ Unscrew bolt.
^ Top up transmission fluid to lower edge of oil filler hole.
^ Screw in bolt.

Tightening torque
Bolt for oil filler hole: 25 Nm

The bolt has a surface coating which is adapted to transmission housings made out of aluminum or magnesium.
