1. Cap

- Replace if damaged
3. Tank flap unit
- With rubber cup

- Ensure seated tightly
7. Gravity valve
- To remove valve unclip upward out of support
- Test valve for through-flow
- Valve vertical: Open
- Valve angled at 45 degrees : Closed
8. Change-over valve
- To remove valve unclip sideways out of support
- Checking
9. Vent line
- Black
- Clipped to side of fuel tank
- Ensure seated tightly
- Secure with clamps Parts catalog
10. Pressure retention valve
- For fuel tank ventilation
- To remove valve unclip upward out of support
- Checking
11. Vent line
12. Supply line
- Black
- Clipped to side of fuel tank
- Ensure seated tightly
- Secure with clamps Parts catalog
13. Return line
- Blue or with blue marking
- Clipped to side of fuel tank
- Ensure seated tightly
- Secure with clamp Parts catalog
14. Connector
- Black, 4-pin
- For Fuel Level Sensor G and Fuel Pump (FP) -G6-
15. Union nut, 60 Nm
- Use ring nut wrench 3217 for removal and installation
16. Fuel Level Sensor G
- Clipped onto baffle housing in fuel tank
17. Flange
- Note installed position on fuel tank
18. Supply line
- Ensure seated tightly
19. Fuel delivery unit
- Check fuel pump
- Clean strainer if soiled
20. Oil seal
- To install, place into opening of fuel tank dry
- Replace if damaged
- Moisten with fuel only when installing flange
21. 25 Nm
22. Bracket
- For securing straps
- Note installation position
23. Securing strap
- Observe varying lengths
- Installed position:
- Locating point (hole) points in driving direction
24. Vent line
- Ensure seated tightly

- From drip reservoir
26. Retaining ring
- Fastened to body

- Installed position: Arrow points in direction of flow
29. Supply line
- Black
- Ensure seated tightly
- Secure with clamp Parts catalog
30. Fuel tank
- Draining
- Support using engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A when removing
31. Vent line
- From EVAP canister to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80-
- Clipped onto fuel tank
32. Return line
- Ensure seated tightly
33. Drip reservoir
- Clipped onto fuel filler tube
34. 25 Nm
35. O-ring
- Replace if damaged
Installation position of fuel delivery unit flange
Marking on flange -1- must align with marking on fuel tank -2-.
NOTE: After installing Fuel Pump (FP) flange, check whether supply, return and ventilation lines are still clipped in at fuel tank.
Checking change-over valve
Pin in rest position: Closed
Pin pressed in direction of arrow: Open
NOTE: Before installing change-over valve, unscrew cover from fuel tank.
Checking pressure retention valve
The pressure retaining valve is opened in both flow directions - arrow 1 - on the gravity valve side. It is only opened in one flow direction - arrow 2. on the side of the change-over valve.
