Drive Belt: Service and Repair



Ribbed Belt

- Checking alignment of the ribbed belt. Adjustments

Removing
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Mark the direction of rotation of the ribbed belt.
- Turn the wrench clockwise - arrow - until the tensioner can be locked in place using a 5 mm drill bit.



- Remove the ribbed belt.

Installing

- Ensure, before installing the ribbed belt, that all ancillaries (generator, Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor, power steering pump) are secured tightly.
- Check that idler pulley turns easily.
- Note previously marked direction of belt rotation and be sure that it is seated correctly on the pulleys.
- Route the ribbed belt as shown.



- 1 = Generator pulley
- 2 = Idler pulley (40 Nm)
- 3 = Tensioner (40 Nm)
- 4 = Vibration damper pulley
- 5 = Idler pulley (25 Nm)
- 6 = A/C compressor pulley
- 7 = Power steering pump pulley
- After completing repairs always:
- Start the engine and check belt running.
