Door Sunshade, Rear, Repairing Broken Handle
Technical Background
Rear door sunshade handle -C- broken or will not return to
rest position.
Note:
DO NOT replace complete sunshade -B- for this condition, replace handle -C- and cover strip -A- following procedure below.
Production Solution
No production change required.
Service
Tip:
Secure the sunshade !! DO NOT allow shade to recoil back
into the door panel.
^ Pull sunshade up partially and secure shade using a pinch clamp (spring clip) to door trim panel.
^ Flip cover strip -A- over and look for the metal tab on forward end (towards the front of the vehicle).
^ Remove cover strip -A- by bending metal tab in direction of arrow.
^ Slide cover strip -A- rearward (arrow) off sunshade -B-.
^ Insert handle -C- (from figure 1) Part No: 3D4 861 697A* into slot on new cover strip.
Tip:
Once handle is installed into cover strip it cannot be removed.
^ Reinstall sunshade mesh -B- into new cover strip assembly -A- Part Number:
Left side 3D7861355A___*
Right side 3D7861356A___*
*) Add color code
^ Align groove of cover strip -A- onto sunshade mesh -B-
and slide forward (arrow) onto sunshade mesh.
^ Secure by bending metal tab in direction of arrow.
^ Remove clamp from sunshade
