Cylinder Head Assembly: Testing and Inspection

Valve Timing Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Counter-holder tool (T10172)

• Camshaft locator bar (T10193) for cylinder bank 1

• Camshaft locator bar (T10194) for cylinder bank 2

Procedure

- Remove noise insulation --> [ (Item 14) Noise insulation ] Engine Valley Components Overview and covers --> [ (Item 13) Cover ] Engine Valley Components Overview from cylinder heads.

- Rotate crankshaft slowly in direction of engine rotation using counter holder (T10172) until camshaft locator bar (T10193) for camshaft for cylinder bank 1 and camshaft locator bar (T10194) for camshaft for cylinder bank 2 can be inserted into fitting holes as shown.





- Raise vehicle on vehicle lift.

- Check whether the marking - arrow A - on vibration damper aligns with alignment pin - arrow B -.





If markings do not align:

- Adjust valve timing, refer to --> [ Valve Timing Adjusting ] Adjustments.
